  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Stay in air conditioning on extremely hot days.
  • Never leave a human or animal in a closed parked vehicle.
  • Check on elderly relatives and friends when temperatures soar.
  • Avoid overexposure to the sun.
  • Apply sunscreen before sun exposure and reapply as needed.
  • Take plenty of rest periods/breaks while in the sun.
  • Wear protective clothing and wide brimmed hats.

  • Children under 10 should not cross the streets alone.
  • Stop at curbs and look both ways before crossing the street.
  • Walk; don’t run, across the street.
  • Obey all traffic signs and signals.
  • Be visible. Wear reflective, white or bright colored clothing, especially at night.
  • Always walk on the sidewalk. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
  • Children should not play in driveways, streets or parking lots
  • Always cross a street at crosswalks or intersections
